At the age of 8, Joshua Domfeh had taken little interest in music. He began with guitar lessons from one of his mum's friends from his old church. Later on in his life started to grow an interest for percussion and keyboard.
Growing up in a very urban environement, Joshua was surrounded by old RnB songs from artist such as JoJo, Ciara, but also composers from classical such as Mozart and Beethoven. By the time Joshua was 14 years old, he had a gift for playing several instruments and he loved to compose music from whatever he had musically.
Being very fortunate, Joshua was able to dive right into the music industry with help of friends who were already working the industry. In secondary school, he was introduced to Jazz music, which exposed him to pianists such as Oscar Peterson, Art Tatum, Nat King Cole, Bill Evans. This also helped him to improve his gifts and helped to influence the player he is today.
Furthermore, it made him more comfortable with gigging and learning songs and meeting deadlines. 2 years later, Joshua was given the role of a music director in his Church, because of this he knows how to work with artists, organize and direct bands. As the years went on, he began to obtain more jobs for example, function gigs, showcases and live recordings. While doing that Joshua also obtained a qualification in Music Technology, this helped him to understand more about recording and mixing his own music.
After college, Joshua decided to take a year out of education to work on his music theory and sight reading and also technique on the piano. Currently, Joshua Domfeh is an independent artist, music director, producer and composer. He studies classical music at Goldsmiths University.
